Insulin and Glucose are measured and expressed in a Homa index number.
If losing weight won't work, you can have Insulin and glucose measured in blood.

HOMA Index
smaller than 2.0 is an indication of insulin resistancegreater
than > 2.5 insulin resistance very likely greater
than > 5.0 in type-2 diabetics
