The iGene DNA Test - Pharma is a specialized genetic test that provides insight into your sensitivity to common medications and your personal genetic characteristics. This test focuses entirely on pharmacogenetics: how your body processes certain drugs based on DNA. In addition, you will receive fun and practical facts about your genetics.

Via a saliva sample, part of your DNA is analyzed in a medical laboratory. Within 4 to 6 weeks you will receive your personal DNA profile, available in the iGene App and as a downloadable report.

What exactly does pharmacogenetics mean

Pharmacogenetics examines how your DNA affects the way your body processes drugs. Some enzymes make drugs break down faster or slower. Abnormalities in these enzymes can cause side effects or impair the effectiveness of a drug.

How does it differ from the iGene Health test

The iGene Pharma test contains only the pharmacogenetic information and personal characteristics. The iGene Health test contains everything from the Pharma test as well as additional insight into your genetic predisposition for diseases such as heart disease, diabetes or cancer, including preventive lifestyle recommendations.

Which drugs are included in the analysis

Among others: antidepressants, blood thinners, painkillers, antipsychotics, statins, chemotherapy and immune modulating drugs. In total, the report contains information on more than 60 commonly used drugs, including amitriptyline, clopidogrel, ibuprofen, tamoxifen, paroxetine, simvastatin and warfarin.

What personal characteristics will I see

You will get information about genetic traits such as alcohol hypersensitivity, caffeine sensitivity, lactose or gluten intolerance, taste perception, predisposition to hair loss, sensitivity to stress or pain, muscle building and more.
