About Ellen van Gijsel
Ellen van Gijsel is the founder of Bloedwaardentest. She has over twenty years of experience in laboratory diagnostics and preventive health screening. Before founding Bloedwaardentest, she worked at HumanCapitalCare on health screening programs for companies, schools, and municipalities. In 2009, she became director of Diagnostiek Nederland, a consortium of general practitioners’ laboratories providing care to the uninsured. She was also responsible for blood testing for general practitioners at the U-Diagnostics laboratory in Utrecht.
Armed with that experience, Ellen founded Bloedwaardentest in 2013, specifically for private individuals. Her mission: to give people insight into their own health so they can improve their vitality. Bloedwaardentest has since grown into a nationwide platform for non-insurance-covered laboratory diagnostics, with clients ranging from individuals to coaches, therapists, and clinics. Ellen’s children, Skip and Pepper, are also part of the team.
Ellen is not a treating physician. Her expertise lies in laboratory diagnostics, preventive screening, and explaining laboratory results in an accessible way; a test result does not replace a diagnosis or personal medical advice.
