iGene DNA saliva test Basic
The iGene DNA test - Personal Characteristics (BASIC) is an approachable DNA analysis that provides insight into genetic traits that are simply useful or nice to know. Ever wonder why you can't stand coffee? Or why you get tipsy after just one glass of wine? The answers often lie in your DNA.
With this test you will discover what genetic predisposition you have for everyday characteristics, such as taste perception, hair loss, digestion or sensitivity to stress. You also see which enzymes play a role in this. A fascinating first introduction to what your DNA tells you about yourself.
This test provides insight into such things as:
- Alcohol Hypersensitivity
- Androgenetic alopecia (hair loss)
- Alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency (AATD)
- Bitter taste perception
- Caffeine Sensitivity
- Hereditary fructose intolerance (HFI)
- Gluten intolerance (celiac disease)
- Norovirus resistance
- Lactose Intolerance
- Chance of red hair color
- Fast twitch muscle fibers
- Thrombophilia
- Susceptibility to SARS (2003)
- Hemochromatosis (iron accumulation)
- Copper stacking (Wilson's disease)
- Sensitivity to pain and stress (COMT gene)
The iGene BASIC test is ideal for those curious about their genetic blueprint, without receiving direct information about health risks. You will not receive advice or condition-related insights, just information in the "fun or useful to know" category.
How does it work?
You receive a DNA kit for saliva collection at home. You send this back in the enclosed return envelope. After analysis in a medical laboratory, you will receive your personal DNA profile in the iGene App within 4 to 6 weeks. The results can also be downloaded as a PDF report.
