Fluoride
Fluoride is a trace element that we ingest primarily through drinking water, toothpaste and certain foods. In small amounts, fluoride can contribute to dental health, but too much exposure can be harmful to bones, kidneys and the nervous system, among other things. This blood test will give you insight into your current fluoride exposure.
This test may be relevant if you:
suspects that you ingest a lot of fluoride (for example, through drinking water, supplements or occupational exposure);
experience symptoms such as bone or joint pain, muscle weakness or unexplained fatigue;
have impaired kidney function (fluoride is excreted through the kidneys);
consciously want to avoid fluoride and check what this means for your body.
If anything abnormal is found that may require immediate medical follow-up, you will always be called by a physician or medical professional first.
If desired, telephone clarification or a lifestyle consultation is available to discuss the results.
