Thyreotoxicosis factitia: by ingestion of thyroid hormone tablets (sometimes used to lose weight) often leads to an excessive amount of thyroid hormone in the blood.
Rising thyroglobulin levels as part of follow-up care for thyroid carcinoma are suspect .
The exclusion of interfering thyroglobulin antibodies is recommended. If Tg-Ab is found, the thyroglobulin result is of limited information.
Patients without a diagnosis of thyroid cancer generally do not benefit from measuring thyroglobulin levels
