Minors and legally incapable persons
We do not provide blood tests for minors (under 18 years of age) and the legally incapacitated without referral from a doctor or therapist (BIG registered), because we follow the guidelines of the Health Council;
Extra protection in connection with a preventive genetic test is basically involved if;
1. It is untargeted or broadly focused on a variety of abnormalities and there is lack of knowledge including clinical sensitivity and specificity.
2. A complex follow-up process is involved due to (combinations of) follow-up diagnostics, therapy, aftercare and counseling.
3. There is a risk of disproportionate invasion of privacy.
(Also) Children and legally incapable persons belong to the target group.
5. It is insufficiently proportionate to the health problem (e.g. too extensive or too invasive) or if there are clearly better or less harmful alternatives.
6. There may be major social consequences, such as follow-up costs and/or displacement effects.
7. It addresses (directly or indirectly) serious diseases or abnormalities for which no treatment or prevention is possible.
