Do I have corona now? PCR gargle test
PCR Gargle test COVID-19
Test yourself by gargling with water instead of the sometimes painful nasal swap! This test has to be sent to the lab, after which the result will follow within a few days.
The virus can be detected well 2 days before complaints and 5 days after complaints. It is therefore only useful to test after suspected infection or in case of complaints.
Equally reliable as a normal PCR test. The test is performed on the Cobas 6800 from Roche.
Results within 48 hours of receipt at the lab, usually sooner.
In order to be able to test quickly when needed, some people choose to purchase this PCR coronation test in advance, which saves time on order processing and shipping of the test set.
This sampling method is just as reliable as the unpleasant throat-nose swap method.
The test is analyzed by Medical Laboratories Dr. Stein & Colleagues
The collection kit consists of a coded tube, personalized lab card and a special medical envelope for shipping to the lab. The barcode stickers on the tubes refer to your name and your specific study.
- Prior to obtaining a sample from a throat swab, do not ingest solid food for at least one hour (if possible).
- Open the sample tube and fill it with drinking water or non-carbonated mineral water
- Now allow the entire liquid to flow into the pharynx (do not swallow!). Breathe in through the nose and out through the mouth with the head stretched out. Gargle like this for about 10 seconds.
Note: Simple mouth rinsing is not sufficient for this test! - Spit out the entire gargled liquid into the sample tube and close it tightly!
In patients at risk of choking, a swab should be taken as an alternative.
It is also possible to deliver the test to the lab yourself, also on Saturday.
