If the two omega-3 fatty acids EPA and DHA in the blood are reduced (<4%), the risk of sudden cardiac death is ten times higher than with an increased percentage (>8%). A beneficial effect of omega-3 fatty acids is also observed in mental disorders. New studies show that the use of omega-3 fatty acids can have a positive influence on disorders such as schizophrenia, (manic) depression and ADHD.
