Allergy Titanium alloy

    For an operation that requires an implant, the doctor will often indicate the exact material to be used. Sometimes it is advised to test in advance if you are allergic to this material.

    I am very satisfied with the company and regularly load my blood tests. The only pity is that you don't get a confirmation when the blood has arrived. That would be an added value...

    Allergy Titanium alloy

    "Before an operation abroad, my doctor asked me to test for allergy to the following substances used in the titanium alloy:

    • Titanium chloride (BK645). (formerly Titanium BK741)
    • Cobalt (C617)
    • Chrome (C609)

    So always check with your doctor which metals are used in the alloy of your implant.

    About 15% of the Dutch population is allergic to metals. This usually involves nickel, chromium, cobalt, palladium and sometimes titanium. This allergy is more common in women than in men.

    Only 1 in 1000 patients show an allergic reaction to metal implants.

    In addition to allergic reactions, non-allergenic reactions also occur. The complaints are similar. Non-allergic substances cause so-called irritation eczema because the substances are aggressive and affect the skin. In principle, anyone can get irritation eczema, one does not have to be allergic to it. This makes the diagnosis sometimes difficult.

    The conclusion of the measurement is expressed as follows:
    K= 0 means allergy not detectableK=
    1 means low
    K= 2 means allergy clearly detectable

      I did this test because since I have had implants (2 molars) I have had complaints like fatigue, muscle aches, kind of radiating pain at the place of the implants, tinnitus, painful joints, stuffy nose, watery eyes. I kept asking myself if it could be because of the implants. This was dismissed as nonsense. Because after all kinds of tests nothing could be demonstrated, I had this test done myself. The result was a very clear allergy to Titanium (also cobalt and nickel). My dentist was very surprised. Now we have to look further into what to do.... how and what will it cost.... A good tip, listen to your body.... With me, I had it right from the start. Titanium allergy is therefore possible.
